I’ve had a genuine interest in sustainable fashion for years. I think most people have the same interest. We all know on some level that fast fashion isn’t good for the planet, and in the end it’s probably not good for our wallets either. There are some who argue that buying low quality goods for low prices is actually more expensive because you have to keep replacing the items. Whereas an investment piece can last years, possibly decades.
An easy way to be more sustainable is to purchase items that are classic, chic, and minimalist. These types of items will not go out of style, look good on pretty much everyone, and are easy to style! You know me, I’m always focused on bringing you pieces that are easy to style and will have you looking elegant and chic! Minimalist Chic is a style that is easy to create, is classic, and sustainable.
So, here are 10 pieces that go with everything and will have you looking minimalist chic.
Your Favorite Jeans
My favorite jeans right now are from Mother Denim. I love the quality and sustainable practices of this brand. They are comfortable and always flattering. Here are some styles and fits I like:
A Black Dress
The ultimate wardrobe staple. The simple black dress. Always have one on hand that you can wear on evenings out. I like a simple midi cocktail dress.

Your Favorite Leggings
Leggings go with everything. I remember a few years ago when there was a debate about whether or not leggings were pants. I think it’s fair to say leggings won the debate. I wear leggings to work out, obviously. I also love to wear them to run errands and to my kids sports events (comfy for sitting in the stands). My favorite are Wunder from Lululemon.

Black Pencil Skirt
A black pencil skirt goes with everything. I love to pair mine with a fitted black top, for a black dress look. I also love to wear mine with beautiful leather boots in the winter. There are so many options with a black pencil skirt. Mine is from French Connection. I bought it off the sale rack at a department store literally 15 years ago. This item does NOT go out of style.
My black pencil skirt from circa 2005! Below I’ve linked some fabulous pencil skirt options.
A Leopard Item
I wrote many posts on my love of leopard. I’ve written about the history of leopard print in fashion and how it never really goes out of style: Leopard Print is Always in!
Options for a leopard item include- pants, a bag, a jacket, pumps, or a cardigan.
I love my pull on leopard pants, similar linked here.
Jean Jacket
The ultimate casual chic outwear item is the jean jacket. Worn since the 50s by icons like Marylin Monroe, you cannot go wrong with a jean jacket. Mine is from Old Navy. I’ve had for around 20 years (not exaggerating). In college my mom purchased me a Miss Sixty jean jacket in London. I had it for a week, and accidently left it in a taxi cab. I was crushed!! I bought the Old Navy one as a replacement. Maybe it’s time I bought myself another Miss Sixty one! I linked the Old Navy one below, it’s an absolute classic with an amazing price point!
White Oxford Shirt
A white oxford shirt goes with everything. Lately, I’ve been wearing an oversized one as a jacket. I think it really completes an outfit with simple understated elegance.
Nude Heels
A simple pointed toe nude pump should be a staple in your closet. I splurged a bit and purchased a pair of Jimmy Choo’s. I wanted high quality because I knew I would be wearing these shoes for years to come.
Here I am in my Jimmy Choo’s paired with an interview suit. This was for a pageant interview!
Classic T Shirt in Black and/or White
A scoop neck or v neck t shirt in black and/or white is a must in everyone’s wardrobe. It will serve as a base layer for so many outfits! Wear it will jeans, shorts, leggings, a leopard bottom, a pencil skirt (for an edgy fun look).
Black Jeans
Black jeans are my favorite bottoms in the winter. I wear them with everything. I love a straight or skinny leg, ankle length pair. They hit at the perfect spot to wear with heels, flats, or sneakers. Wear them with an oversized sweater, a body suit, or a puff sleeve top.
